Russell: Norris and Verstappen should be considered favourites

At the FIA ​​press conference at Silverstone, George Russell spoke about how important the win in Austria was for him and the entire Mercedes team, but admitted that Max Verstappen and Lando Norris will once again be the favourites at the British circuit.

George Russell: “It’s always nice to stand on the top step of the podium again, knowing that behind it is the hard work of the whole team, trying to improve the speed of the car so we can really challenge for wins.

I think, and I said this already, that we should have won the race in Montreal, but in the end I finished third there – this happens in motorsport. But I am very happy that we can fight again for podiums and race wins and are ready to take advantage of any favourable situation that may arise on the track.

I think Lando Norris and Max Verstappen should be considered the favourites for the weekend at Silverstone, because their cars can handle the fast corners very well, and there are many sections on this circuit where the speeds are very high. But I think we will not give in to that much.

When we talk about the incident in Austria, where they both participated, we know that Max is one of the best and that on track he will always act on the edge of what is allowed. To be honest, all top racers do this all the time.

I think we know the rules well, we know what they say about manoeuvres in the braking zone – Max probably crossed the line a little bit here, and I agree with Lando, who says that a small infringement can have very serious consequences.”
