After the first Friday practice session at Silverstone, Red Bull Racing principal Christian Horner commented on one of the episodes, but the conversation mainly focused on the events of the previous weekend.
At the end of the session, between the 9th and 10th corners of the circuit, a very exciting moment occurred with the participation of Lando Norris and Isaac Hajjar, the driver of the Red Bull youth program, who drove the car of Sergio Perez.
“Isaac simply didn’t see Lando, but he immediately admitted his mistake and apologized. But of course this will be a lesson for him,” Horner said, before switching to the subject of the confrontation between Verstappen and Norris. – Max and Lando are fighting fiercely. After what happened in Austria, they talked everything over, and it seems that Lando, now that the emotions have subsided, has softened his stance somewhat.
I am sure we will see their battles on track more than once in the second half of the year. But after the incident in Austria they drew conclusions, although we only got to that situation because of a glitch in Max’s pit stop. Without this he would have had a seven second lead over Norris.
From my point of view, it all started a week before the Austrian Grand Prix, when Lando pushed Max onto the grass while accelerating towards the first corner of the track in Barcelona. Overall, it is clear that their rivalry is getting more and more intense, but they have been fighting each other for a long time, throughout their entire careers in motorsport.
At the same time, everyone knows what kind of racer Max is: he will fight for every inch of the track. I am sure Lando will learn a lot from these battles, but so will Max.”
