In a summary of Friday’s practice at Silverstone, the Aston Martin team noted that Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll were mainly concerned today with comparing the effectiveness of different types of tyres.
Lance walk (9th): “It seems like we worked more competitively today, but we understand that the results shown in Saturday’s qualifying and in the race on Sunday will be really important.
“After the stages in Spain and Austria we changed some things on the car, so we spent the day gathering information and trying to do more laps. We will have to do some more work in the evening to prepare for qualifying, but our goal is to qualify for the final session.”
Fernando Alonso (11th): “When analysing the training results, it is difficult to draw too serious conclusions, partly because the work on the track took place in changing weather conditions. This year we can perform better on wet surfaces, so we will see what awaits us on Saturday.”
