Yuki Tsunoda: There were a lot of problems during training

Yuki Tsunoda went off the track at the very start of the first free practice session for the British Grand Prix. The car got stuck in the gravel and Yuki’s practice ended there, but he returned to the wheel in the second.

His RB teammate Daniel Ricciardo worked both sessions, setting the 19th fastest time in the second and said the team continued to work on improving weaknesses.

Yuki Tsunoda (16th): “I didn’t start the first training session well and lost valuable time, but in the second session we gathered a lot of information. I think the team and I understand the position we are in.

We didn’t expect so many problems in the second practice, but we still have time and I’m sure we will find a chance to regain a few tenths and fight to reach the final.

It doesn’t seem like these kind of circuits with long, fast corners are suitable for our car, and our rivals have improved. They are doing well, but we will continue to do everything we can to fight for better results.”

Daniel Ricciardo (19th): “Difficult day. We found some explanations for the problems that emerged in the second session and were related to aerodynamic load. It was frustrating because of course you try your best but there was still some uncertainty about our pace.

Overall, we are working on improving our weak points and will try to perform better on Saturday. The team will study the telemetry and find the cause of the problems, but I am convinced that there is nothing strange about the cause.

This year we will have a tough time on this circuit, but we have to figure it out and move up to higher positions.”
