After thirteen races of the season, Ferrari is 97 points behind Red Bull Racing in the Constructors’ Championship and Charles Leclerc is 80 points behind Max Verstappen in the individual standings. Scuderia driver Carlos Sainz hopes the rivalry meetings will help his team return to the fight for the title.
Carlos Sainz: “I think it’s pretty clear that we have to win the races that Max wants to win. I have no doubt that our teams will continue to fight until the end of the season, but we could use help in the form of Red Bull’s retirement or their reliability issues. But even if they don’t leave, we have to keep fighting. We must not give up as long as there are mathematical chances of victory.
The main rule in sport is that you have to believe in your chances as long as there is a chance to win. We have to keep doing everything we can to win and stay in the fight. We will keep fighting and improving because everything we learn this season will be useful for years to come.”
