Sauber drivers Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou are positive about the results of Friday’s practice at Silverstone. The team noted that they have made progress in working with the car compared to the last stage and expect to perform better than usual in qualifying.
Valtteri Bottas (12th): “Based on the results of Friday’s training, we can say that we are in better shape on this circuit than in the last stage. But the next two days are important and we have to find a chance to improve on Saturday, as our opponents will definitely improve. But today we look good anyway.
We had no problems with the car and managed to improve a bit compared to last weekend, so we’ll see how things develop.
In fast corners the car became a little better. During the training Zhou and I worked on different programs and we could make a small step forward in the stability of the car. The battle is very fierce: if we regain another tenth place, we will be in the top ten. This density means that we definitely have to add more tomorrow.”
Guanyu Zhou (18th): “It’s nice to be back at Silverstone; it’s a fun circuit to drive. Today’s practice focused on gathering information. The balance still needs to be worked on, but it seems to be better than the last stage in Spielberg.
The team will continue to work on finding car settings for qualifying, where we will have the opportunity to show a good result.”
