Russell: The second session was harder

According to the results of the first Friday practice, George Russell was in the top five, but in the second session he was already tenth, after which he said that the difficulties had really increased, although he stressed that he was satisfied with the behavior of the car on the fast Silverstone circuit.

George Russel (10th): “We had a good practice, the car made an excellent impression, although the difficulties increased a little in the second session, and now we have to find out what this is about. Maybe because the wind picked up and I’m not sure we found the right approach to working with tyres.

Overall, it seems to me that we are about on the same level in terms of competitiveness as we were in several previous races.

On Friday we didn’t focus on working on the soft tyres, because they can be useful for the race and we also have to decide if it is worth using the Medium tyres instead of the Soft tyres in the third practice. We will decide on that when choosing our tactics for Sunday.

I believe that after the victory in Austria our whole team is now in a fighting mood, and in the first session everything went great, but in the second, as I said, the pace got a little worse. But tomorrow the weather conditions can change again and we can only hope that the fans in the stands don’t get too wet.”

Lewis hamilton (6th): “Overall the driving experience was not bad. We are still a bit behind the pace of the leaders, but today we saw some encouraging signs.

I don’t think the training results fully reflect our speed, but at the same time we understand that we still have to work hard in the evening. We will do everything in our power to find reserves of speed – we can only hope that we can get closer to the leaders.

It’s always great to perform at Silverstone! It seems like there are more and more fans in the stands every year – it’s incredibly nice to see and feel their support. I hope we can keep them happy for the rest of the weekend.”
