Aston Martin pleased with qualifying results

At Silverstone, both Aston Martin drivers qualified for the final qualifying round, with Lance Stroll ahead of Fernando Alonso…

Lance walk (8th): “Two cars in the qualifying final is a good result, especially in such difficult conditions. New products manufactured after Austria were useful, making the car easier to drive.

On the last lap I made a mistake. I think I could have gone faster and got a higher position – the results were very close but the team is happy with the result, we will try to take advantage of that tomorrow. Who knows what the British weather will bring!

In the first part of qualifying I left the pit lane just as the light turned red. I saw him at the last moment, I didn’t have time to react. I decided it was safer to drive slowly around the track than to brake hard at the end of the pit lane.”

Fernando Alonso (10th): “It is great that after some difficult Saturdays we reached the qualifying final today with two cars. Unfortunately I could not complete my second attempt in the final due to traffic on the road with Sainz and Piastri.

In the second session I managed to finish in the top three, the pace was competitive, so I think we could have done better than tenth in the final. I hope we can fight for points with two cars tomorrow.”
