Will Oscar Piastri Replace Yuki Tsunoda In AlphaTauri?

The history of the Formula 1 transfer market keeps getting new details, with Alpine reserve driver Oscar Piastri as the main entrant.

After Fernando Alonso signed a contract with Aston Martin, Alpine announced that Oscar Piastri would replace him, but the Australian driver himself explicitly stated that he would not drive for the Enstone team in 2023. From Piastri’s statement, they drew an unequivocal conclusion – if Oscar refused a place in Alpine, then he already knows that he will play in another team.

McLaren was considered the most likely place for the young driver to work, where the Australian would reportedly replace fellow countryman Daniel Ricciardo, but the British Times suggests Piastri will move to AlphaTauri to replace Yuki Tsunoda.

In favor of this version, the paper states that the Oscar manager is Mark Webber, who still works with Red Bull, has good relations with the team management and is the official ambassador of Porsche, which should become the supplier of power plants for 2026. Red Bull Racing. Yuki Tsunoda’s contract with AlphaTauri will expire at the end of the season and the team is in no rush to announce an extension.

If Oscar Piastri really has an option to move to AlphaTauri, then it is understandable why he declined the contract with Alpine. If the Australian successfully establishes himself in the team from Faenza, the road to Red Bull Racing will be open for him in a few years’ time instead of Sergio Perez, whose contract with the team expires at the end of 2024.
