After considering the circumstances of the incident, when Lance Stroll crossed the pit lane exit at a red light, the stewards limited themselves to the minimum penalty.
The stewards heard the driver and the team representative and examined the video footage. The red light at the pit lane exit came on 0.8 seconds before the driver crossed it.
The stewards took into account the short reaction time and the fact that there were red flags on the track. They concluded that car #18 could not gain any advantage by completing the lap, combined with the fact that the pit lane was wet and the car was on slicks, making it possible that the driver would have stopped behind the exit line.
However, the driver must always obey the signal when leaving the pit lane and will therefore be penalised with a warning. This is the minimum recommended penalty.
This is Lance Stroll’s second reprimand this season.
