The Visa RB team is still in 6th place in the Constructors’ Championship, but Haas F1 is already catching up, although Yuki Tsunoda still managed to finish in the top ten at Silverstone. Daniel Ricciardo took 13th place and complained about the lack of pace.
Yuki Tsunoda (10th): “The race was not bad, but it was difficult. We understood that, based on the pace we showed during practice, it was difficult to count on points on dry asphalt. That’s why I think it was the rain that helped us not to lag too far behind the competitors who were in front of us.
Previously I didn’t like racing in the rain, but I think today the conditions were in our favour. We earned one bonus point, let’s be happy with that too. But we have to move on and I’m very happy that in the remaining races before the summer break we can apply the experience we gained in several previous stages.
The Hungarian circuit is a combination of fast and slow corners, and let’s hope we can use all our strengths there and fight for top ten positions.”
Daniel Ricciardo (13th): “I liked that the race was run in constantly changing conditions and we managed to take some chances, but unfortunately we just weren’t competitive enough.
It was one of those days where there were more difficulties than necessary, and now we have to try to figure out what this is about. It seems that in the last three stages, after the technical innovations were introduced, we lost a little bit compared to other teams in the middle of the peloton. In general, we have a lot to work on in preparation for the upcoming races.
It is good that we now have a week of rest, everyone can recover and reorganize to go back to work in Budapest, where we encounter a completely different track of nature.”
