The drivers have been running with all rubber compounds throughout the weekend, except the heavy rain tyres, and Pirelli welcomes the opportunity to test them at the challenging British circuit.
Mario IsolaPirelli: “We witnessed an exciting Grand Prix at the end of an exciting and entertaining weekend. We can say that this was a test weekend for us: we tested almost the entire tyre line-up in different conditions on one of the most difficult circuits on the calendar.
It was already clear on Friday that all three slick compositions could play an important role in the race, which was confirmed. As for the strategy, the pre-race predictions were more or less justified.
Rain aside, the length of the first stint on Medium and the effectiveness of Hard for drivers like Verstappen and Sainz who used them in the final stint suggests the C2/C1 combination could be very competitive.
The Soft tyres wore a little more, partly because they were used in qualifying mode at the end of the race on a circuit where the rain had washed away the layer of used rubber.”
