Nico Hulkenberg earned points for Haas F1 at Silverstone, while Kevin Magnussen finished outside the top ten…
Nico Hulkenberg (6th): “I am very happy for the team, we still have eight points – this is very important for us. But more importantly, with the latest update of the car we have speed, which gives us optimism for the rest of the season.
Now we are definitely in the battle for fifth place, which nobody expected a few weeks ago. This is very positive.
The race proved difficult, with rain at the beginning, which was not enough to switch to intermediate tyres. In the fast corners and with so much grip it was risky to attack, but we managed to regain what we had lost at the start.”
Kevin Magnussen (12th): “We pitted a lap earlier than we should have. I was next to Albon for the tyre change, but he stayed on the track for another lap and increased the lead considerably.
On Soft the pace wasn’t very good, the tyres were quickly slicing and the car was losing speed.
“It’s great that Nico got eight points, it’s very important. I would have liked to contribute, but in the end I didn’t have the speed.”
