In Saturday’s sprint, Red Bull earned the most – 14 points, and hope to build on the success tomorrow…
Max Verstappen (1st): “The team did a great job today. Positive day. I didn’t start in the best way – I need to figure out what happened, but then the pace was right. In the first ten laps Charles’s gap stabilized, then his tires started to wear, I was able to close the gap and take the lead.
Tomorrow is another day, we have no guarantees in the race, but I expect the battle to be tight again. We look forward to continuing and hope for a good performance.”
Sergio Perez (3rd): “I’m happy with the sprint result and I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s race, where I start third. In the sprint I managed to bounce back after qualifying, I could hardly count on more.
I started very well, then we ran into Riccardo – not without contact, I was able to overtake well. We need to improve something, I hope we can do it tomorrow to fight for the win – this is the goal.
We have a good pace, I hope we can beat Ferrari in the race. We saw in Melbourne and already seen here that things can change quickly, each of the teams can perform better or worse, but there is no doubt that Ferrari will be strong.
Today I came close to Charles Leclerc, but it was only a sprint. Let’s see what we can achieve in the race.”
