Valtteri Bottas is continuing negotiations with Formula 1 teams over a contract for 2025. The Finn said he has spoken to Mercedes boss Toto Wolff but ruled out a return to the Brackley team as he is counting on a multi-year deal, which Mercedes cannot offer him.
Valtteri Bottas: “Getting a seat for just one season is not exactly what I need or am looking for at the moment. I don’t just want to sign a contract for next season, I want to sign a multi-year agreement with a clear plan according to which the team and I will work together. I need a challenge and a clear plan.
If I sign a contract for just one season, I will be in the same situation again in a year and I will decide again what to do next. Toto and I are good friends, and of course we have discussed everything.
When I signed the current contract three years ago, I knew that everything would eventually come to the current situation. I am fine with this, I am even interested, but I want to solve the problem as soon as possible. Then I will be more satisfied.”
