Max Verstappen is already a three-time world champion and is now on his way to a fourth title, but surprisingly this is his first time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. This year, Red Bull Racing, which already has six constructors’ championships to its name, celebrates its 20th anniversary, and on Sunday the British team’s drivers were among the main characters at the festival.
After the first demo drive behind the wheel of the RB16B, a car from 2021, Max shared his impressions without leaving the cockpit and without even taking off his helmet.
Max Verstappen: “This is a kind of fantasy! This is my first time here and luckily it is not raining today, so nothing will stop me from enjoying this spectacle and seeing all these beautiful cars on the track.
It turned out that the track was very uneven and the bottom of the car was scraping quite a bit on the asphalt, but it was still fun because there are always a lot of fans coming to Goodwood. Although I have never been here before, I have watched the broadcasts of the Festival of Speed every year, but this is the first time I have driven a Formula 1 car here.
Admittedly, I’m probably not ready to compete in fast hill climb races yet, as I need to prepare the car for it and train myself!
