While the racing world is trying to guess which team Adrian Newey will continue his career with, the eminent designer himself is in no hurry to make a decision. Moreover, Newey confirmed once again that he does not yet know whether he wants to continue his career in Formula 1 at all.
Adrian Newey: “When I announced my departure from Red Bull, it was no surprise to me that other teams showed interest in me. However, I will not rush into a decision about my future. I need a break from work to decide whether I want to try myself again in Formula 1. Moreover, I do not want to feel outdated.
There are several drivers, like Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, that I would like to work with, but there was not the right place or time for us to be together.
I got on very well with Nigel Mansell at Williams, even though he had a very difficult character. And I got on very well with Max Verstappen, who is a pleasure to work with at Red Bull.
I don’t know what the future holds for me, but instead of traveling the world racing this summer, I’m spending time with my family. In June, Mandy and our two St. Bernard puppies, Yogi and Benji, spent a week traveling the south coast and having a blast.”
