Oscar Piastri: The car’s high pace is inspiring

McLaren is optimistic about the upcoming Hungarian Grand Prix, with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri believing they can continue their upward trend and fight for the top positions.

Lando Norris: “It was great to have a bit of a rest and recovery after a stressful few weeks. I returned to Woking to celebrate the results of the last three races with the team. I also worked on the simulator and went through all the information we had learnt before we started the next step.

I am looking forward to returning to Hungary. The qualifying result is important at this circuit because overtaking is not easy, but we will be competitive.

You feel incredible when you lead a Grand Prix, but we still have to work on it. We are ready!”

Oscar Piastri: “After two strong weekends in Austria and Great Britain I go to Hungary, where I was happy with my driving. We missed a few opportunities at Silverstone, but it is clear that the car has a lot of speed and that is encouraging.

In the junior racing series I had success at the Hungaroring, so I am looking forward to returning. The whole team is preparing for the upcoming race with great confidence and motivation.”

Andrea StellaTeam Principal: “With the British Grand Prix behind us, we are now halfway through the 2024 season. It’s a good time to reflect on our achievements. We are in a good position in the Constructors’ Championship thanks to our two drivers and the incredible team at McLaren, and in recent races we have scored more points than our nearest rivals. Consistency is key if we are to pursue the top positions in our sport.

Last week we took the time to celebrate the success of the stages built, which brought us three race trophies and two sprint trophies. However, there is still much to be done. We plan to continue improving to put pressure on our closest rivals. We are ready and looking forward to returning to the Hungaroring.”
