Next season, the RB team will be allowed to completely change the driver line-up. Currently, Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo play for the team from Faenza.
Daniel Ricciardo’s contract expires at the end of the season and Yuki Tsunoda’s contract has already been extended until 2025. However, Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport writes that there is a good chance that Tsunoda will not play for RB next season. Everything points to the Japanese driver being promoted and moving to Red Bull Racing, where he will become Max Verstappen’s teammate, replacing Sergio Perez.
New Zealander Liam Lawson, who made his debut for the team last year as a replacement for the injured Ricciardo and scored points on the podium in Singapore, has been invited to take Tsunoda’s place in the RB.
As for Daniel, the Red Bull Racing boss and close friend of Australian Christian Horner is trying to convince other teams to sign Ricciardo for 2025, but so far this proposal has not attracted much interest from rivals. In particular, Sauber boss Andreas Seidl showed “minimal interest” in Ricciardo. In 2022, as head of McLaren, it was Seidl who decided not to renew Daniel’s contract.
However, should Ricciardo find a place elsewhere, Isaac Hajjar will take the wheel of RB in 2025. The French driver is part of the Red Bull youth programme and currently leads the Formula 2 drivers’ standings.
