Formula 1 teams have agreed on changes to the technical regulations, which should help eliminate the build-up of cars on the straights. Last Wednesday, during a meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee, it was agreed that the minimum height at which the underside of the car is from the track surface will be increased by 15 millimeters.
Initially, the FIA suggested raising the bottom by 25 millimeters – Mercedes pushed for such a figure, but many teams, including Red Bull Racing, were against it, so a compromise was found, which was eventually approved.
“15mm isn’t as good as if we left it as it is, but it’s not that bad compared to the 25mm originally offered,” Racingnews365 quoted Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner as saying. “This is a compromise that we will have to accept next year.
There is nothing for it but to accept and find a solution. We have been good at that for years, so we are also taking up this challenge.”
