Ricciardo: Future career depends on results

Daniel Ricciardo is out of contract for next season and according to the latest rumours, he, like Sergio Perez, could be without a seat behind the wheel in 2025. In Hungary, the RB driver said that his future fate depends on his results on the track.

Daniel Ricciardo: “The attitude towards a driver depends on how they write about him in the press, but the truth is that all of us are under pressure. Even those who are faster than others are under pressure to keep showing results. We all feel it.

This year I got more attention, and so did Sergio. The attention died down a bit after my good race in Montreal, but I said then that I needed another good result, because you are only as good as your last race. And one good weekend is not going to relieve you of the pressure.

I’ve seen some statistics and we know that Max Verstappen earned more points than Sergio. Of course the team expects more from him, but in sport we are constantly under scrutiny. Our job is to try not to pay attention to the pressure, but that’s easier said than done.

“Because I’ve been in the Red Bull program for a long time, I know how everything works; everything here is result-oriented. If we are good enough, we will get a better place. We know that everything depends on our results.”
