During the season, Oliver Berman will spend six Friday practice sessions behind the wheel of a Haas car – a multi-year contract with the American team has already been signed and the young Briton should be prepared for his first full season in Formula 1.
His debut, although unplanned, had already taken place at the stage in Saudi Arabia, where Oliver, as Ferrari reserve driver, had to replace Carlos Sainz at the last minute, and he overcame this difficult task very successfully.
The Hungarian leg will be the fourth this year in which he will pilot the VF-24.
Oliver Berman: “We can say that this is already the second half of the season of my Friday training and I continue to work in a good mood because so far everything is going very well.
When I took part in the first practice of the weekend at Silverstone I already knew that my future was linked to the Haas team, but honestly it didn’t affect my mental state. Everything was pretty much the same as before, because I never tried to attack too aggressively, I didn’t try to prove anything to anyone. Moreover, it will be like that now, if my future is safe.
“I just want to make the most of every lap to gain experience and knowledge. After Spa and after the summer break, we will work together with Ferrari and Haas to draw up a detailed plan for the rest of the season. At the same time, my personal plans are quite clear: continue training, keep studying and analyse everything I do in detail. But I also plan to share my own ideas, because I already have them.”
