Lando Norris: People forget what we’ve already accomplished

Many believe that McLaren missed out on victory at Silverstone due to tactical miscalculations. On the eve of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Lando Norris said that such mistakes allow the team to gain experience, which will come in handy in the future, when there is more at stake than just winning the race.

Lando Norris: “We learned a lot. In these situations the team always learns more than when they just win and have no problems.

I am glad that we are gaining similar experiences and continuing to learn. It is better to do it now than later, when we have a chance for something more. Of course it is annoying to lose like this, but in difficult times you also gain experience.

I think the reason they talk about it so much is because we were fighting for the win, not for seventh, eighth or ninth place like the last five years. We are talking about winning a race, and in that situation, of course, defeats hurt more, but victories also bring more joy.

We are fighting against strong opponents and paying a high price for not performing perfectly, but I am doing well and I am happy with the way we are working as a team.

“I feel like people are just forgetting the good things we’ve already achieved. On average, we’ve been the most stable and fastest team over the last two months. That should be in the headlines, not everything else.”
