Haas has decided not to renew Kevin Magnussen’s contract, which expires at the end of 2024. Speaking to reporters in Hungary on Thursday, the Danish racer confirmed that he was looking for other options to continue his career.
When asked if he was negotiating with other teams for a contract for next season, Kevin replied: “Yes, I am. Definitely. I don’t think you always have to understand a team decision to agree with it. In Formula 1, these things happen and you just move on.
You can look at drivers who sign contracts and wonder if they are really better than you, but it doesn’t matter because they are racing.
I think if I were to continue driving for Haas it would be great to see the fruits of the work we have done recently, but there are more interesting projects and open places in Formula 1.
“Of course Carlos Sainz is holding everyone back now, but at some point the driver market will start moving. The best thing we can do now is to focus on the races and show good results. When the movement starts, I will join the fight for the remaining free places.”
