Before the race weekend in Hungary, Haas announced that it would end its partnership with Kevin Magnussen after the season. Apparently, the decision was made in advance, as former head of the American team, Gunther Steiner, said that Kevin asked him for the phone number of the head of one of the teams a few weeks ago.
“Kevin texted me two or three weeks ago,” Steiner said on the Red Flags podcast. “He asked for the number of the leader of one of the teams. But I don’t know why he needed the number! That was the last message I got from him.
Kevin is pursuing his own career and doesn’t need an agent. Of course, he has someone to help him sign the contract, but I’ve always communicated directly with Kevin, without managers. Kevin doesn’t draw up contracts; he has a lawyer for that, but he does all the negotiations personally.”
