During Friday’s practice in Hungary, Aston Martin tested new products. In the first session, only Fernando Alonso’s car received updates, allowing comparison with the previous version, and in the second practice, Lance Stroll also received new items. The team is in no hurry to draw conclusions, as the information gathered still needs to be assessed.
Fernando Alonso (10th): “It’s always nice to come back to Hungary. This is a unique track where you don’t have time to catch your breath; the corners follow one another. Also, it was very hot today, which made the conditions difficult for the mechanics and all the spectators in the stands.
Due to the high temperature and the characteristics of the track, the rubber degradation turned out to be quite strong, even extreme, so it is necessary to monitor the condition of the tires.
In short, a good day. In the evening you should analyze the collected information to find out as much as possible about the car.
“On Saturday we will do our best. It will be difficult to overtake in the race, so qualifying is important.”
Lance walk (17th): “It’s great to be back in Hungary. This track is fun with interesting combinations of turns.
In the first session I worked with the version of the car we had at Silverstone, and before the second practice I had the new one installed. We lost some time due to red flags, but I felt the car well. Fernando and I gave similar feedback to the team.
The team has gathered a lot of information that will be analysed tonight to optimise the car for tomorrow’s qualifying.”
