Ricciardo: By the end of the day my mood had noticeably improved

Visa RB called the day’s results encouraging, although this only applies to Daniel Ricciardo, while his teammate suffered from problems with the car’s set-up.

Daniel Ricciardo (8th): “I am very happy with what we achieved at the end of the day in terms of driving sensations, car balance and of course the results. After the second session I was in a much better mood than during the first session, when I felt I still had to work on the car.

We did the second practice with a lot of confidence, I felt comfortable driving both with a small amount of fuel and with a full tank. Although it is only free races, Friday was one of the successful ones.

Tomorrow is a new day, we will look for fine-tuning and continue working.”

Yuki Tsunoda (19th): “Overall it was a good day for the team and we had a good first practice. But the second was interrupted due to problems with the car, which meant that the work plan on the track had to be changed a bit during the day. When everyone was doing a long run I tried to complete at least one lap without problems.

But the team is working with confidence, so everyone has a positive attitude.”

Alan PermainRace Director: “The day was only half successful. Unfortunately, in the second session, Yuki’s car had a problem with the front suspension settings. We discovered the causes, but were unable to quickly eliminate them, so we can say that he was not able to operate normally at all in the afternoon.

“But Daniel was very happy with his car. He seems to be able to show good speed and we know that Yuki should be at that level too and that he will pick that up tomorrow. Overall we can say that the results of the day are encouraging, although there were also reasons for some frustration.”
