Oliver Berman returned to the Haas wheel in Hungary for his first practice session in place of Nico Hulkenberg. The team has assessed the results of the first day of the race weekend positively and expects to be able to fight for a good result in qualifying.
Kevin Magnussen (6th): “In the first practice we weren’t very fast, but in the second we were able to improve. The track had cooled down a bit – maybe that played a role, but I’m not sure. We were much more competitive in the second session and I hope we can continue that form on Saturday.
“The team has been working according to the program, things have been going well lately and we want to continue in the same vein. There is no reason to think that we will not be in shape this weekend, but the competition is so fierce that one weekend we can be in high positions and the next weekend we are not. We will try to do our best in a situation where we have the speed to earn points.”
Nico Hulkenberg (15th): “Today I only did the second practice, but the session went well. In a situation like that you are always a bit behind and you don’t have time, and red flags have reduced the working time even more, but it is what it is.
The car handled well. The results are again quite tight, overtaking on this circuit is difficult, so tomorrow track position will be decisive.”
Oliver Berman (20th in the first session): “It’s nice to be back behind the wheel and have my first practice session with the team. The conditions on the track were very interesting – I had never driven in such heat before and I can say that it was quite difficult to be in the cockpit. It was not easy for me only, but also for the tyres.
I learned a lot. It was fun and I’m looking forward to getting back on the track soon for another practice session.”
