Richard Verschor won Saturday’s sprint at the Hungaroring in style and everyone saw it, but a few hours after the finish the stewards’ verdict was announced: the Dutch rider from the Trident team was disqualified.
During the technical inspection it was found that the thickness of the control rod under the bottom of his car was a maximum of 3.7 mm, which after the race constituted a violation of article 3.4.3 of the Formula 2 regulations in the area of the control hole must be at least 5 mm.
Thus, Kush Maini, Invicta Racing driver, inherited the victory in the sprint, and this is the first achievement of an Indian in F2. Accordingly, Isaac Hajjar, driving for Campos Racing, climbed to the third step of the podium and Juan Manuel Correa (DAMS) received a bonus point for the 8th place.
Ferschor has been plagued by unexplained bad luck this year, as he has reached the top of the podium for only the second time this season – and was immediately denied victory due to a miscalculation by his team in preparing the car for the race. The first time was after the sprint in Jeddah.
