Sergio Perez crashed his car during qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix, just as his future fate at Red Bull Racing is likely to be decided. The championship-winning team’s principal, Christian Horner, made it clear that he had already given Perez enough time to rectify the situation, and that this could not continue.
Christian Horner answered the question after qualifying on the television channel Viaplay whether he could be considered a patient person: “Yes. I think I have proven it.
A result like this is the last thing Perez or the team needs, so we’ll see. We’ll pick up the pieces, restore the car and see what results we get in the race.
We will do the debriefing within the team, and not through the press, but it is clear that we cannot run on one leg.
McLaren is very fast and it’s a shame that Sergio dropped out in the first part of qualifying, but Max’s third place is a normal starting position.”
