In Hungary both RB drivers qualified for the final qualifying…
Daniel Ricciardo (9th): “It was a long and difficult qualifying and I was relieved to hear that everyone was OK after the accidents that happened.
When we went out on track in the first session the rain got heavier, but then there were red flags, the track dried out a bit – and I even showed the best time in the first session, which I was very happy with.
“I’m happy that we made it to the final qualifying with two cars. If there had been no red flags in the final, I could have gained a few more places with a new set. Hopefully I can do that in a race that I’m looking forward to.”
Yuki Tsunoda (10th): “I am disappointed. My lap in the final went well, I attacked at the limit and rode with half the wheel on the grass, which is normal, but because it was wet it all ended in an accident. Before this turn I felt great.
“It’s a shame because everyone in the team and myself deserve a higher position for the work we’ve done. The car behaved perfectly, I was able to give us a great position for tomorrow. Congratulations to the team for reaching the qualifying final with two cars.”
