In Hungary, both Aston Martin drivers reached the qualifying final for the second weekend in a row. The British team is happy with the result and expects to earn points with two cars in Sunday’s race.
Fernando Alonso (7th): “I think we can be happy with seventh and eighth place – both cars are back in the top ten. The team has introduced some new features to the car at this stage. It seems that this has made us more competitive. In addition, the team adjusted the settings last night to unlock the potential of the updates, and the measures taken worked.
Conditions were very difficult today due to rain and red flags at the end of the session.
Points will not be awarded until tomorrow anyway, so we will see if we can show a good result in the race.”
Lance walk (8th): “It’s good that both cars reached the final qualifying in Hungary. The team changed the settings last night, but the lower track temperature seemed to help us as well.
The first part of qualifying turned out to be quite interesting. I was in 16th place when it started to rain. I got back on track and did a lap when the asphalt started to dry out and continued. Scenarios like this are exactly why we love qualifying in changing conditions!
In the final the weather radar showed rain coming, so we decided to give it a first try with new tyres. I didn’t do the cleanest lap, but if I start from eighth place I can fight for the points.
Everyone in the team has been working hard to prepare these updates for the car and we will try to keep the momentum going into tomorrow’s race.”
