The stewards of the Hungarian Grand Prix analysed the circumstances of the incident that occurred in the first corner between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen after the finish, and left it without consequences.
Both drivers, as well as representatives of the Mercedes and Red Bull Racing teams, were summoned to the stewards, where they gave their explanations; in addition, all available data was studied, including telemetry and video recordings, after which a verdict was reached: no one will be punished.
As stated in the official FIA document, Hamilton believed it was a racing incident, while Verstappen maintained that the collision between the cars was caused by the opponent changing gear under braking. But the stewards disagreed with the Red Bull Racing driver, although they did stress that the Mercedes driver could have taken action to avoid a collision.
“We have decided that no director can be held primarily responsible and have decided that no sanctions are necessary,” the judge said.
