In Hungary the Haas F1 drivers did not score any points, the best result was 13th place for Nico Hulkenberg…
Nico Hulkenberg (13th): “A bad start and a bad first lap brought me back, and without a good position on the track in Hungary it is very difficult.
“When you’re behind in a disturbed airflow, you have to take risks – and we decided to make an early pit stop. Then we had to do two stints on Hard, which wasn’t easy; we couldn’t get the tyres to last long enough. We were competitive on one lap, but not so competitive on the long runs, which is a bit like Monaco.”
Kevin Magnussen (15th): “We took a risk by starting on Soft, I gained a lot of positions on the first lap but in the end I didn’t have enough speed to fight for the points.
“We could have done better in qualifying, but based on today’s speed we wouldn’t have been able to fight for the points. However, we still learned a lesson and hope that Spa will do better.”
