The contract with Monza has not yet been extended

The president of the Italian national federation ACI Angelo Sticchi Damiani confirmed that the contract for the Italian Grand Prix in Monza has not yet been renewed.

Angelo Sticchi Damiani: “We had a deadline of July 1st. The FIA inspection went well and they praised our work, but made some small suggestions. Now the next deadline is August 1st.

The biggest reconstruction in the history of Monza is behind us. Our first priority was to guarantee the safe exit of the spectators, as ordered by the prefect. Finally we had the chance to carry out this work, which turned out to be much more difficult than expected. We shortened the route in four places, although the rainy winter did not contribute to fruitful work.

In recent years, new anti-seismic standards have come into force, requiring significant work. A minimally invasive solution was found to strengthen existing structures.

In order to secure the future of the Italian Grand Prix, we need to renew the contract with Formula 1 as soon as possible. The current agreement expires in just over a year, here we are behind schedule. The contract must ensure that some works can be completed before the 2025 race, and others in 2026. We are a little worried and must hurry to sign this contract with all the necessary guarantees.

Another important task is the transformation of the current press centre, with a surface of almost 5,000 square metres, into an extension of the Paddock Club. This is very important for Formula 1, because it will provide very profitable locations. Of course, we will create a new press room and we have already found a suitable building by repurposing old offices.

The construction of the new stands is awaiting approval. Each structure will be an independent unit, equipped with air conditioning, restaurants and toilets.”
