Official: Magnussen to leave Haas F1 at the end of the season

Haas F1 has confirmed that Kevin Magnussen will leave the team following the expiry of his current contract at the end of the 2024 World Championship.

The team is looking forward to working with Kevin for the rest of the season and seeing good results, such as in Australia and Austria.

Ayo KomatsuTeam Principal: “I want to thank Kevin for everything he has given to our team – on and off the track. For many years he has been the backbone of our driver line-up. No one has raced for Haas F1 more and we have had some memorable moments, including a fifth place finish at the 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix when Kevin returns to start his second career with the team. He did not expect to be driving a Formula 1 car that day, but he delivered an excellent result that was a huge boost for the team and once again demonstrated his own talents behind the wheel.

There is still a lot of racing to be done this year, so I look forward to seeing what else we can achieve together with Kevin. Given Kevin’s special relationship with the team, I also hope that we can find a way to continue working in some capacity. Hopefully we can establish that in the near future, but his wealth of experience in Formula 1 and knowledge of our operational activities will undoubtedly be beneficial to our continued growth and development.”

Kevin Magnussen: “I would like to thank everyone at Haas F1 Team. I am proud to have driven for this great team over the last few years.

I would especially like to thank Gene Haas for taking care of me and bringing me back in 2022, when I thought my time in Formula 1 was over.

“I have had some amazing moments with this team that I will never forget. I am looking forward to the next chapter of my racing career, but I remain fully focused on giving it my all until the end of 2024 with Haas F1.”
