It was announced at Silverstone that long-serving chassis technical director Enrico Cardile is leaving Maranello to join Aston Martin in 2025, with Scuderia chief Frederic Vasseur promising to name a new name after the summer break.
Frederic Vasseur: “I will hold this position during the summer holidays, that will be the easiest way, but immediately after the holidays we will announce a new organization. There are more than 200 employees working on these machines and on this scale the departure of one person will not be a drama.
Who will replace Cardile? I have a few five-letter names.
I always try to explain that individuals are less important than the team, which is true both when you sign someone and when you lose someone. The stability of the team is important, the teamwork is good and in difficult moments we have shown that we can work very well.
In the 12 months between the races in Hungary we have closed the gap to the winner by a third, thanks to the work of our basic staff. I trust them completely, but the work has to continue because I am not happy with the result. I am not happy with being 20 seconds behind the winner, but last year in Hungary we finished 65 seconds behind.”
