Red Bull motorsport consultant Helmut Marko’s current contract with the team runs until the end of 2026. According to rumours actively circulated by the British press on Wednesday, the Austrian specialist has signed a new deal with Red Bull.
The essence of the new document is that Marco has agreed to fulfill the terms of the current contract and work for Red Bull for the remaining two and a half years, thus protecting the team from the early departure of Max Verstappen.
The Dutch driver’s contract reportedly includes a clause that allows him to leave Red Bull Racing early if Helmut Marko leaves the team or is fired. However, by signing an additional agreement, Marco effectively closed the possibility of Max moving to another team until the end of 2026.
It is no secret that Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has been trying to convince Verstappen to join him for some time now. It is quite possible that Toto will now have to abandon this idea for several years.
