Max Verstappen drives in Formula 1 under the Dutch flag, but was born and raised in Belgium. The upcoming round in Spa is the home base for the Red Bull Racing driver and he expects to win, just like his teammate Sergio Perez.
Max Verstappen: “Spa has always been my favourite circuit because of the fast corners and the many overtaking opportunities. Great fans come to the stands and give me strong support.
The race in Hungary was not easy and overall it was a weekend to forget and move on. We are working as a team to improve our speed and get the best out of the car.
In Belgium, the weather will add an element of surprise, but we will see what the race brings. The team is working hard on the last race before the summer break. We all deserve a good rest and want to come back stronger. This weekend we will try to achieve the best possible result.”
Sergio Perez: “It’s very positive that we managed to recover on Sunday. I think I proved that I was comfortable in the car all weekend and that we have potential. It’s a shame that we didn’t manage to fight for the podium, because the speed in the race allowed it and the last segment was promising.
In Belgium the challenge is to put the whole weekend together and I am confident that we can do that. We work as a team and the fact that the mechanics were able to restore my car after qualifying in Budapest shows that everyone is working with full dedication every day.
With one race left before the summer break, I want to repay the team for last weekend with a great result, as all the staff are important to me.”
