Mercedes driver George Russell hopes cool weather and technical innovations will allow his team to challenge McLaren and Red Bull Racing at Spa.
George Russell: “As a team we are constantly asking ourselves if we will be rewarded for all the effort and hard work. The fact that we have already secured two wins is an excellent achievement considering where we started the season in Bahrain. We believe we are on the right track and want to achieve more.
The weekend in Budapest confirmed what we already knew: we perform better in cool conditions than in warm conditions.
The weather forecast is predicting rain this weekend and the team has prepared several new products. I hope we can take a few more steps forward on the progress we have already made thanks to Canadian innovations.
We want to fight against McLaren and Red Bull. Formula 1 is a constant battle and it will be great to be back in action this weekend.”
