Valtteri Bottas (14th): “I think we achieved the maximum today, given the unpredictable, constantly changing conditions on the track. We were able to do some good laps and the final result largely reflects our speed.
Every lap was different, the clutch kept changing, but on the last attempt in the second session I managed to improve and take 14th place.
“Tomorrow it will be dry again, yesterday we worked well on a dry track, we found the optimal settings, that should help. It would be great to get some more points before the summer break. We have seen unpredictable races on this circuit and in general the pace has always been high, so we will see what happens.”
Guanyu Zhou (20th): “I missed my chance in qualifying. The first attempt on slicks went well, at that point I thought I would go through to the second session. But before I started on new tyres, the team kept me in the pit lane to time the last run better, and unfortunately this strategy didn’t work. I found myself at the back of the line of cars entering the last chicane and with only one lap to optimally prepare the tyres, I couldn’t improve my time.
Despite this setback, I believe we can bounce back tomorrow, given my feeling about the car.”
