At Spa, Esteban Ocon reached the final qualifying session, while his teammate Pierre Gasly dropped out in the second session.
Esteban Ocon (10th): “In qualifying I set the tenth fastest time and in the race I started ninth. We brought several new products to Spa, which we continue to study.
Good day, we used the car’s potential in qualifying. In the last session it was more difficult, we didn’t have a new set of tyres. We know that Sunday won’t be easy, but we gave ourselves a good chance to earn points and we will try to get them.”
Pierre Gasly (12th): “It’s a shame to drop out of the battle in the second part of qualifying, especially after a successful first, in which I showed for the second time.
I couldn’t get the most out of our laps and prepare the tyres in the changing conditions, the rear wheels were missing. You have to figure out how to achieve more.
“My partner and I have different settings, I’m focused on the corners and not so fast on the straights – so we’ll see what that brings us in tomorrow’s race. It looks like it’s going to be dry. On Friday we worked a lot on the car in the dry, hopefully it will help us to score points tomorrow.”
