The Las Vegas Grand Prix returns to Formula 1 next year. What’s special about the podium is that the owners of the championship from Liberty Media bought a plot of land for $240 million to build future track facilities, including the pit lane and the paddock.
Liberty Media President Greg Maffei said in a conference call with investors that the company is developing a program that will allow the rail infrastructure to be used year-round.
“Our aim was for the infrastructure to prove not only to be excellent for the race, but also to be able to be used constantly for various events outside of race weekends,” quotes Racefans Maffei. – The purchase of land and subsequent construction of infrastructure facilities will not affect us in any way and will not affect financial opportunities.
It is important to keep working to get as many people as possible interested in Formula 1. We have big plans that will allow us to realize the project with passion and emotion. But to do this, it’s important to increase the level of cooperation we expect from the authorities in Las Vegas.”
