Williams signed Carlos Sainz for 2025 and beyond. Carlos will be Alex Albon’s teammate and will continue to race with the number 55.
Carlos Sainz: “I am very pleased to announce that I will be joining Williams Racing from 2025. It is no secret that the situation in the driver market has been extremely difficult this year for a number of reasons, and it has taken me some time to announce my decision.
I am confident that Williams is the right place to continue my journey in Formula 1 and I am very proud to be part of such a historic and successful team, which has included many of my childhood heroes in the past who have left their mark on the history of our sport.
The ultimate goal is to bring Williams back to the top, a challenge that I approach with enthusiasm and optimism. I am convinced that this team has everything it takes to write history again. From 1 January, I will do everything I can to help Williams move forward together with everyone in this team.
“I would like to thank James Vowles and the entire Williams board for their confidence and determination. Their conviction played a major role in the decision. I truly believe that the people and their culture are the foundation of any successful team. Williams is synonymous with heritage and pure racing. The foundation for the project ahead is very strong and I look forward to being part of it from next year.”
James VowlesTeam Principal: “Carlos’ arrival at Williams is a serious statement of intent from both sides. Carlos has repeatedly demonstrated his talent and won races – this underlines once again that we are on an upward trajectory. Carlos brings not only experience and results, but also a fierce desire to squeeze every millisecond out of the team and the car – this is where we are a perfect match.
In Alex and Carlos we have one of the most formidable line-ups on the grid and a wealth of experience that will help us meet the new regulations in 2026. Their belief in the mission of this team shows the scale of the work that is happening behind the scenes. There should be no doubt about our ambition and momentum as we continue our journey. We are serious and with the support of the Dorilton Foundation we are investing in what it takes to get back to the top.
“I would also like to thank Logan for everything he has done for the team and I know he will continue to fight hard for us in the coming races.”
