The Spaniard has signed a contract for 2025 and 2026 with the possibility of an extension. The media reported that he would earn around 10 million euros per year.
“I am very pleased to announce that I will be joining Williams in 2025. It has taken me a while to announce my decision, but I am completely convinced that this team is the right place to continue my career in Formula 1. From January 1, I will do everything I can to move the new team forward,” said the driver.
Sainz is 29 years old and made his Formula 1 debut in 2015. Since 2021 he has been racing for Ferrari, where he joined from McLaren. Sainz is fifth in the drivers’ standings with 162 points. The Spaniard has three F1 victories.
Alexander Albon, who signed a new multi-year contract in May, will also play for Williams next season. Logan Sargent will leave the team at the end of the 2024 season.
