One American team – Haas F1 – is already in Formula One, the second – Andretti Global – is trying to become one of the competitors, and a third may appear – led by former Alpine F1 head Otmar Szafnauer.
On James Allen’s podcast, Szafnauer said: “I’m a fighter, what I enjoy most is competing. I don’t think I’d be interested in doing another project where I don’t have any control over anything. But if this is a role where I can be part of the development, construction, and bringing in the right people to join the team, I would be interested.
“I’m working with a couple of companies in North America that have the money to build the 11th team. And it’s not Andretti. Now we’re laying the groundwork and putting some of the key pieces together to make sure we have everything we need to build the team and get the go-ahead to compete.”
