Red Bull Racing sporting director Jonathan Whitley will leave the team at the end of the season and join Audi as team principal.
In 2025, Wheatley will have to take a mandatory vacation, the duration of which has not been disclosed, after which he can take up his duties as head of the Audi team.

His contribution to six Constructors’ Championships and seven Drivers’ titles, first as Team Manager and then as Sporting Director, will forever remain a milestone in our history.
Jonathan will continue in his role until the end of 2024 as the team attempts to defend its Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championship titles. The mandatory leave of absence begins in 2025.

The invitation of Jonath Whitley is a new step by Audi in preparation for its debut in Formula 1 in 2026. Earlier, the German car manufacturer announced the signing of a contract with Mattia Binotto, who will lead the entire project in Formula 1.
