This week it was announced that Carlos Sainz has signed a multi-year contract with Williams. In response to Sainz’s move, his former McLaren teammate Lando Norris believed that the Spanish driver deserves a place at Red Bull Racing.
Lando Norris: “I don’t know what the plans were, so I can easily say that he should have gone to Red Bull. Of course, I have a biased opinion on this issue, because I know Carlos better than Sergio Perez. Carlos deserves a lot because he is one of the best drivers in Formula 1. He has proven this countless times and we are good friends.
I am happy that Carlos will stay in Formula 1. He will have a car and try to get Williams back on top. Alex Albon will be his partner and I think that will only benefit Formula 1.
I’m sure a lot of people think he should have gone to Red Bull, but I wasn’t the one who made the decision.”
