Red Bull Racing principal Christian Horner said the team is continuing to work on modernising the RB20 car. Horner added that the championship lead is shrinking as the regulations allow rivals more time in the wind tunnel.
Christian Horner: “The whole team continues to work very hard to modernise the car. Under stable regulatory conditions, everything we learn this year can be applied next year.
If we remember the first half of this year, we won seven Grands Prix, two or three sprints, we are leading the individual championship and the constructors’ championship. However, in recent weeks the gaps in the team classification have narrowed and we are focused on correcting this.
We have less time to spend in the wind tunnel and we inevitably reach the top of the progression curve. This is a normal situation, which leads to the gaps gradually decreasing. I believe that all teams will reach their peak sooner or later.
One week Mercedes has the advantage, the second – McLaren, the third – Red Bull. Ferrari has not been able to predict the future for a long time, but the balance of power is constantly changing.”
