Recently it was announced that the sporting director of the championship team, Jonathan Whitley, will leave Red Bull Racing. The British specialist will work until the end of the season, after which he will be given a mandatory six-month leave, after which he will take charge of the Sauber/Audi team.
As the British press has learned, Red Bull Racing will not seek a replacement for Whitley in other teams and will generally refuse the position of sporting director, dividing his responsibilities between two employees.
It is understood that some of Whitley’s responsibilities will be taken over by Max Verstappen’s race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase. The part of the work that concerns the team’s interaction with the FIA will be passed on to another team employee, who will be selected.
Red Bull Racing has not yet commented on Lambiase’s new responsibilities.
